About Mike

Mike is a local organizer who knows how to bring the community together for change.

He is a Director at the University of California, San Diego, where he supports the $1.7 billion research enterprise. With over 23 years of service across the UC system, engagement as a volunteer and advocate for Castro Valley’s schools, and a champion for political reform in Castro Valley, Mike has developed a deep understanding of the challenges our public schools face. He has experience working with elected officials and organizations at the local, county, state and federal levels to address complex policy issues.

Mike organized the “Castro Valley Stands United Against Hate” campaign and helped develop the “Bay Area Stands United Against Hate” campaign.

He served as the Chair of the “Yes on Measure G Campaign,” a successful $123 million bond campaign in support of infrastructure improvements for the Castro Valley Unified School District, served as the Cubmaster of Cub Scout Pack 703 at Chabot Elementary School, and has been a volunteer in our Castro Valley schools.

Mike is a graduate of the University of Richmond, where he studied Economics and German. He earned his MA in European Studies at Washington University in St. Louis.

Mike and his wife, Melissa, have lived in Castro Valley since 2009. Their two sons are current students at Creekside Middle School and Castro Valley High School.
